National hotel tower is about to collapse, DBA alarms (from the smoke?) going off all over Freo.

Yer all the "onlookers" have blocked the roads and the big red trucks cant get through people are SO SO SO dumb.

So confirmed its the hotel not the bank as the national bank is next doior to the national hotel, sounds a bit crazy.

Contained, not under control. Power has been turned off to City of Freo - as a result, a heap of DBA's have fallen into Comm-Fault.. (the ICV out there actually radioed in to warn them).

Last I heard, 6 pumps, 2 aerial appliances, ICV, SET, BA Tech, MLO, FIO, Fire Safety Co-Ordinator, various DM's and a Regional Director plus Chaplain.

Freo 1st, Freo 2nd, Claremont, Daglish 1st (or 2nd), Murdoch, Success are the pumps I heard.

Of course :D

Probably the biggest structure fire I have done in my short 2 year career as a camera man. Hopefully my shots turn out alright - it was pretty dark when the power got cut.

Looked like the roof collapsed and possibly a floor or two. They are waiting on a structual engineer to check it out. No firemen are allowed to enter due to it being structually unsafe. Owner was in attendance.

Cheers to Gavin for the phone call - legend.

Heard yesterday on 6AR channel - about 6:05pm last night - A pilot returning to Jandakot reported whilst passing from Forrestdale Lake - a car crashed into a power pole - with wires on the ground and fire coming up from that area - with 4 people running from the vehicle - Can anyone confirm any more?/?? Which fire units responded??? - I beleive VKI also dispatched a JG/JA cars P2 as well???

Wonder if its going to be saved or have to be demolished. The only 2 pics on the news website show it well ablaze.
