Got an opportunity to film all four of the Helitacs whilst working on the Gooseberry Hill fire this arvo. They were using Boya Oval as their 'air base'. FESA said they would ask ABC for the vision for training and promotional stuff.
Took the chance to get some stills in the process. The air base manager, pilots and crews were really cool about letting me get up close and personal. Even got a photo in the cockpit of 669(Red).
Sorry about the quality/resolution of some of the pics as i only have an old 2mp 'happy snapper'.
The rest of the pictures i have URL linked below. Click on the links to see pics of the cockpit, support vehicles and the Helitacs 'filling up' from a 'collar tank'.

Yep, the truck holds all the choppers fuel and foam. I had a good chance to see them this evening while waiting to be re tasked at the ICV. i wish id taken my cammera
I had a family get-together this evening in darlington, and drove past boya oval on the way. I think there were three choppers on the ground at the time. when I arrived at my destination the Helitaks were flying close by, flying low and fast like they were in vietnam during the war. must be enjoyable to fly like that, even under those circumstance.
Them pictures rock!!! I thought about going and taking a look, but didn't want to get in anyones way so I didn't. Oh well I will next time, when I'm wearing some yellow trousers and my WA Fire Services shirt
