A infringement notice in the mail may change his wannabe ways!!

Cheers!

Neither of these apply, because the light wasnt turned on. They'll get you under vehicle standards if anything.

If you can't give a good reason why you have lights like that on your vehicle, even if they're off, it's a candidate for a getting a canary (yellow defect notice).

Even though its just a suction cup and you can remove it in seconds? I always thought a yellow sticker is more for fixed emplacement rather than in cabin gear that is temporary (like dangly crap people hang all over the place, which reminds me have you seen how many people have very very sharp objects hanging from there mirrors/on the dash? Good luck with that in a crash..).
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"

Stuff the Traffic Code, creating a false belief under the Criminal Act is where this would apply, if he/she were caught driving. A picture of a parked vehicle wouldn't even raise an eyebrow.

(as for parking permits, I've never seen them - I dont think the law allows fire vehicles to breach parking restrictions unless it is in response to a fire - a council ranger/parking inspector would have to be quite nasty to infringe someone though!)
Actually under road traffic code they (fesa, amb, wapol) are covered as emergency vehicles and are exempt when responding to or on duty at an incident.

otherwise under local government uniform parking local laws they are designated as "special purpose vehicles" and may stop, stand or park at any place at any time, so long as the drive is taking all due care and it is reasonable during the circumstances (ie hydrant services, amb or copper parked in no parking zone while on out duties so as to afford easy egress in emergency)

wapol have a little yello tag on the windscreen that is put there when parking, where unmarked. other wise marked amb, fesa or wapol vehicle is kinda oibvious to the ranger.

interestingly rangers cars & govt services (think water, western power, local govt truck) are covered as special purpose vehicle so so if they eva book u, they should be booking each other lol
Ambul8 - if u break urself i'll fix u! Maybe...

Seems to be a trend forming...today whilst driving up Albany Hwy i came upon two asian blokes in thier late 30`s in a Blue AU Falcon with two aerials in each corner of the rear window and on the rear parcel shelf was two LEDS ... I got the passenger to wind down his window in traffic and I said to him " Mate you obviously arent a Police vehicle so whats the go with the lights on the shelf??". At this point the driver said something to his mate....who then turned a funny shade of white...gave me a blank look and wound the window back up...and they then sped off like they had just stolen the thing. Just wish i had my camera on board so i could show you guys.
Bloody wierdo`s

if that happens you need to get a rego, discription of the car, the ocupants, exactly what they said, the time, place etc etc... and report it, is pretty dangerous imo having people imitating cops

At first i just found it amusing , but now ive read your post GC101 and thought about it some more I am now annoyed at myself for not taking more details down. It has also got me thinking also about a dash mounted camera for this kind of thing and all the other crazy crap ya see on the roads.... anyone else got one set up?....how did you do it?....and are the pics that the satnav unit cameras take any good?
I am not thinking of becoming a full time road vigilante or a faux copper but there are so many times i have thought...if only i had my cam handy!

yeh it would be good to record some of the dodginess on the road, but if these people want to look like the police let them, if the cops catch them then they will have to deal with it, plus they might be slowing people down. But i do suggest we mock them when we see them
