load bearing vests
Is wapol supposed to be getting these, does anyone know? I just can't help but think they'd be really uncomfortable, and im sure they will make it HOT. Just wandering if anyone knows anything about it?
I hope they give us the option of keeping the belt if they do go down that road. Mind you the new portables for the new network are enormous, so who knows i could eat my words.
thigh holsters are apparantly very comfortable to wear, can't see them being brought in across the board though because they look a bit too tactical, and i spose weapon retention would be an issue with them as well.
Back to my point, anyone know anything about the vests?

Theres no need to be so sharp mate, especially to a new member.impdxn wrote:You might get more luck speaking directly with OSTTU than posting on a radio scanner forum.
I don't think theres anything wrong with asking that, considering threads like this are on 'a radio scanner forum'.

radiohead I'm sorry you read it that way, but I was not being "sharp" in my post. That is the unfortunate problem with the Internet as there is no body language or tone of voice associated which accounts for the majority of communication. It was simply a suggestion/recommendation.
I appreciate that there have been threads as the one you linked to but I always feel its best to get the information straight from the horses mouth so to speak. It helps prevents Chinese whispers and you get the more accurate information.

I don't think impdxn was being sharp either consdering the post history for chirpies. He was simply stating a fact and I don't think anyone else needs to get uptight about it. Again not having a go at chirpie but this is not the place to discuss those matters.
This is a scanner forum not a WAPOL VORC forum.

Although i think this is coming far too close to arguing on the internet, and you know what they say about that, it's like winning at the special olympics...
I thought i'd take this oppurtunity to rebutt. Having only stumbled across this forum being far too tired and unable to sleep a few days ago, i've only gone by the topics i've seen. Now i dont know if it's just me, but i counted 12 topics on the first page that aren't related to using a scanner. people posted about thigh holsters, the new xr6's, tasers and the new police facility in the city to name a few. Now bearing that in mind, on another occasion being too tired i've asked a simple question, and everyone gets uptight.
I think some of you guys just need to chill out.
Thus concludes my brief little visit to your forum, have a good one all.

This may sound a little harsh, but Chirpies, you really shouldn't be posting WAPOL sensitive info on a public forum. IF you wanna ask that info, there are websites just for coppers.
I'm sure when you are out on the road, both you and all other coppers dont want baddies knowing that holsters make weapon retention hard etc etc.
Just a thought as you dont know who visits these sites.
