I think the main reason people are upset over your comment, is the word "Testing on the Old and Imfirm"....you want human ginuea pigs to take a hit of a taser, and if something happens (because they need to test the limits of a taser), what can you do, ooo sorry......NEXT. Maybe a different approach to testing should be taken, science is a wonderful thing!

Should tazers be tested on old people?

For what it's worth, I interpreted Kanye's original posts to suggest that devices like tasers should be tested to make sure they don't cause lasting harm to the most vulnerable members of our society, of which the elderly and the infirm are obviously a part of.
I didn't think he was actually advocating taser-testing-granny-labs, but he was using the elderly and the infirm as examples of the kinds of people who would be most affected by having something like a taser used on them.
However, even though I think I understand what Kanye was meaning, I still don't agree with his logic
Tasers (and batons) are designed to incapacitate a person. If someone is playing up to such a degree that they need to be subdued for their own or someone else's protection, then the method used to subdue them has to be effective, even if they weigh 120kgs and are as strong as an ox.
Therefore, making things "granny-safe" is actually building in a weakness that will make the taser or baton less effective in performing it's core function. I think they should be built up to being "yobbo-tough" instead.
If I were a policeman and had to depend on a taser to save my (or someone else's) life in a violent conflict, I'd much rather it gave someone a really good boot of electricity than a nasty tickle.

Did you happen to see the rather bizarre taser article in the West today?
From memory, it was about a memo to police from their management urging care when deciding whether or not to use a taser on someone. I can't remember the details now - should have posted more last night when I had a better memory

You said it cleary that you want batons used on elderly people
Kanye wrote:I definately think that we should use metal batons on old people. If they resist arrest, then it is the same price to pay as anybody else.
