Officially unemployed for the next month!

Post by Brett »

I'm a bum, because I can! Finished up at Coast FM in Mandurah last Friday and now spending the month with the wife and arranging other crap before I leave. Feels kinda weird knowing that I have nothing to do for the next month!

Going to pick up the fitness side of things, thats one goal anyway.

I'm leaving for Cairns for 5 weeks training in early November. Will be working for Surveillance Australia who does all the coastal surveillance and Search and Rescue for the Australian Customs Service. So finally I've broken into the aviation industry!!!

And of course, as being unemployed for the next month, you'll see me on here a lot more.....cause I can!

Just dont register with Centrelink then you should be fine. All these new regulations that they have make it harder even if you are employed and recieving part payment from them,

Nah man, not doing anything like that. The month off is by choice before I start the new job, won't be needing anything like Centrelink at all.

Haha tell me about it!! :)

Brett, well done on changing careers, it certainly sounds interesting. However you've made one serious error in your post. You mention in the same paragraph "the wife" and "having nothing to do".

I think you might find that those two concepts don't go together

Will be based out of Broome mate. Thats after 4 to 5 weeks training in Cairns. Even though I'm getting up there in the wet season, it'll be a bloody good experience. I'll have the rest of the family move up there about a year or so after I've settled in and found a house etc.

Surveillance Australia does all the coastal surveillance and from Broome we cover the Economic Exclusion Zone from Darwin to Cocos & Christmas Islands all the way around to Adelaide. So it's a huge area and we're away from our base a lot but it'll be awesome work.

Here's the coverage map.
