The naming rights usually go towards the company that's stumping up the most money to host the event so I think a more likely scenario would be the creation of the "Peter Brock Trophy" for winning Bathurst or something along those lines...

Wouldnt it be a great honour for the NSW goverment to change change the name of the mountain to Brock Mountain instead of Mt Panorama? That way he can really be the King of the Moutain.

That sounds like a good idea, Donga. That way it takes away from the money making circus that we all know motor sport is and makes Brock 05 more memorable.

it's a stupid idea, it shows bias towards holden, there are some equally great drivers with for too... By all means have a trophy ar some other memorial, hew was indeed a great racecar driver, but I dissagree with naming it after him.

Looks like they're going the way of the trophy option according to ABC News:
Bathurst trophy to honour Brock

Champion race driver Peter Brock will be remembered at this year's Bathurst 1000 race with a trophy awarded in his name.

The Peter Brock Trophy will become the permanent prize for the race that he won a record nine times.
Full story can be read here.

They are also going to leave the front row of the grid vacant for the race in 2006, in his honor. Appropriate as he also holds the record number of pole positions for the 1000.
