Hmmmmm

Did anyone else notice what was on the side of the English trucks?

"Dial 999 or 112"

Good to see they are promoting the GSM standard number as well as their own local number.

Confusingly, it's the GSM and EU standard whereas 999 has always been the UK number and both work in the UK.

Yep and that has to be a good thing. 999 will probably never be retired from the UK system, they're a bloody stubborn lot over there. But it's good to see 112 implemented and given the same level of importance. Perhaps one day they'll do the same here and promote 112 a little more/better.

Anyone ever noticed SJA here in WA is the only Emergency Service in all of Australia that doesn't promote either an emergency or non-emergency phone number on its vehicles :?

I guess when there's 1 24hr ambulance per 50,000 people they don't wanna remind too many people to ring

The SES is worse... despite much talk on the issue there still isn't a national number to contact the nearest SES branch.
