I am not a regular poster but this is too serious to ignore.

I own & run NEWS@NIGHT & have seen the attacks on police, & other emergency personnel, 1st hand.
However I had assumed that the law would bring these people to justice.
How wrong was I & I was there filming the aftermath of the Butcher assault.

I would like to make an offer to anyone who is assaulted while NEWS@NIGHT are filming.
Please contact me on 0410426373 & I will make the vision available for evidence.
I am also prepared to stand up in court as witness to these crimes & verify the vision.
Both my cameramen have also indicated their willingness to do the same !

We are not always aware of these crimes due to the digital change over but will endeavor
to keep an eye out for this barbaric behavior.

Our thoughts & support to all those who place themselves in danger for others.

Andre, I believe what you do at your day job (well, night job) is a great service to the public, without it the general public would have no idea what is going on around them. I for one tune into the news as often as I can to see any overnight footage.

Putting camera's in as many places as possible is going to be a great step forward I believe in cracking down on this and any sort of outrageous behaviour. I hear some councils are continuing to setup permanent cameras in their districts to also cut down on crime and bad behaviour.

Common sense would usually indicate that someone like Mr Barry whatshisface should get jail time etc etc but the way the courts work these days I don't think common sense is anywhere near a factor.

Video evidence is good, but even though there was a video of const. butcher getting assulted it didnt help. if that old man had a heart condition why was he brawling in the street - if hes fit enough to fight with other thugs then hes fit enough to take a tase. besides the fact - the thug that headbutted const. butcher ran up behind him, he wasnt defending himself because he wasnt beeing attacked. and isnt it only self defence when you use equal or lesser force? anything more force and it becomes an attack!

It seems it's ok for our police to carry weapons, but theyd better not use them.....

not to mention that the father had previous convictions for serious assult, and when butcher pulled the taser, the fathers hand was around his tyhrought.

Miss the days (should I say nights) when you and the young bloke used to pop in to MCR at STW and say g'day

I can confirm for those out there that Andre' does a great job. He (and his off siders) are the only cameramen that most police will deal with.

I have had Andre' make copies of incidents for me. Further to that he will drop the copy into the station before you can blink.
