Don't they head over to Queensland after our Fire season? As far as I know they were over in Queensland about one month ago fighting fires there.

pre - modifications & maintenance / inspection.

An aircraft like this cannot and will not come from one job to another across australia without maintenance

They don't come online until the FESA contract starts. Fixed Wings usually come online earlier (these are contracted by DEC).

This might be a stupid question but they wouldn't fly them from queensland to here would they?. Are they shipped by road/rail/boat?

Yes, they do fly them from Qld. Takes a couple of days. The aircraft from overseas generally come in a shipping container or in a large transport aircraft.

Depends it can be a mixture, road transport is a lot cheaper

Factor in the dismantling and re-assembly of the aircraft, the number of trucks etc required and the downtime while doing all that, I doubt it's going to be a cheaper proposition. No doubt they'd include the ferrying costs into the contract to provide the aircraft to QLD FRS.

My comment was in relation to bringing AC from overseas.

Ahhh the carsen, I believe thats flown.

No, I would believe that the aircraft [helicopters] would be cheap to transport on the back of a flatbed truck, the rotators would be straightened and would require no dis - assembly of the aircraft.
