Someone with more knowledge than I will probably be able to give a better answer, but I understand "B" stands for Broadacre and "R" stands for Rural.
One of them (Rural I think) has a bit more equipment on board than the other. I think the Broadacre one is the more basic of the two.
There's also "U" for Urban - which has slightly different equipment again.
Hopefully someone can correct any mistakes, and/or add extra info

B = Broadacre (or basic) just lets the firies (primarily farmers) put the wet stuff on the hot stuff. (eg crop fires)

R = Rural does the same, has a little more gear and has limited ability to fight structural fires defensively (ie from the outside).

U = Urban - has the capability to fight structural fires offensively. Has breathing apparatus on board amongst other things.

Do you know if this is a new appliance or an older one?? Would it be a fair assumption to suggest that the Broadacre appliances have this pump style as apposed to the PTO driven ones??
Is the rumor true that i head last the other week that they are phasing out the PTO driven pumps on the Rural units in the future due to some complications and the user-friendlyness being less with the PTO driven for applications such as pump and roll??

Can't comment on the rumour but it certainly seems easier to run with an auxiliary pump than with PTO.

G'day Wes,
I was a bit worried that you had ventured out to "The Gully" until I looked closer at the pictures!
