Hey all, jus wonderin what affect a industrial magnet would have on an antenna. See, i got my bandspanner antenna and am going to put it on the car, i have to options, one is to use a magnet or to use a bracket, but because i drive a 91 festiva i cant put in on the boot and so would have to go on the hood. I was thinking of using an industrial magnet to keep the antenna on either the roof or the hood of the car but wasnt to sure if it would stuff up the abillity to pick up frequencies.
Also what about them magnets can u can stick on the car and they stick to ur mobile, i was thining of using one of them to hold me scanner but wasnt sure if it would stuff me scanner .
Greatly appreciate any help

Weel i no absolutely nothing about this but heres what i think.....
Some antena already use magnets to onto the roof and the dont seem to pose to much of an issue, however as for anchoring your scanner down with a magnet that i see a problem with magnets and electonic devices with delecate parts in in my opinion dont mix but hey...im probebly wrong, but i wouldnt do it just in case

Hey JG,
Have you considered buying a magnetic mount like the second last item
here? (Click the link to "Antenna Bases and Mounts" if it doesn't take you straight to the right page...)
Admittedly it's got the wrong plug on the end, but a quick visit to Dick Smiths and a bit of work with a soldering iron and you could change the plug over to the BNC type that your scanner probably uses.
