Does anybody know anything about WAVE? I was talking to an engineer today who is contracted to the company that supplies and installs. Sounds pretty interesting and not unlike IP technologies used on amateur.

Are you sure he didndt say WAERN? Fesa pronounce WAY EARN. It is the West Australian Emergency Radio Network that is currently being installed.

He definitely said WAVE because I asked if he said WAVE or WAVES. I think it is the name of the technology that is used for WAERN and other similar networks around the world. He said they have 7000 transceivers for FESA and yep, ROIP was discussed. Small world... my wife's brother. He also said that it's capable of allowing a ground appliance in NZ to talk to an air appliance in the UK. Assuming you had a need for that!

All I've heard through the VFRS Communications Advisory Group is referral to "Clever Networks" which does ROIP using web-based consoles. It may have had a name change.

WAVE is a distributed and highly scalable Voice over IP software application that connects users together regardless of their communications device.
Ok...I pinched that from here

That probably answers the question.

OK that makes sense, Blinky. He said it was a layered system but I wasn't sure how many layers or which ones are WAVE. Thanks for the link.
