There are a few versions kicking around on the internet. However, i did see a new version at a training course in July, I think i wrote down the address so I will have a look for you when I get home.
This one is a good guide, but there are plenty of others about - same principle, just different interface

There's an old CFA I think windows app which works well. Also one by the CSIRO website, but I found it generated different figures.. !
If you are technically minded:
$fdi = int(2*(exp((5.01*log($cur+0.001))-23.6+(0.0281*$temp)-(0.226*(sqrt($hum)))+(0.633*(sqrt($kph))))))
where $cur is curing, $temp is temperature (duh), $hum is humidity percentage (as a whole figure) and $kph is wind speed in kilometers per hour, will give you the Fire Danger Index.
CSIRO Cal is at

The program was fire spread, fire danger, grass lands, and also the house survivability one where it was you stayed or departed, brick or wood etc.

Helitak - The easiest thing to do is click on the link (it will come up "page not found"), then go to the URL link in the Address Bar, backspace delete the " " off the end (after the " .htm ") and then hit enter. The " " has been added during the copy and paste and is superfluous.
