I was sitting at the bus stop outside the joondalup courthouse and i saw NJ109 and NJ102 come from the academy and pull into the courthouse car park. They had a orange plastic bag covering the lightbars on both vehicles. The Plastic Bag had black writing on it but i was not able to read it. Anyone know why it was on the cars?

Possibly not driven by cops? Maybe they were being delivered? Thats the best I can think of.

Probably the writing was something like "Not in service". The covers are often used when the vehicle is in for a service/maintenance so that people know that the person driving is not a serving officer.

Possibly if the vehicle is not in a fit state for L&S. If someone is learning how to drive in an emergency vehicle they should have the lights covered.

Could have been recruits that have been issued the uniform but not graduated yet.

the orange bags say "VEHICLE UNDER TEST" and are used when the cars are being serviced @ dealerships also. It is apparently an offence to drive them without the bags attached. I work for John Hughes and every day there is atleast 1 police vehicle in the workshop. I will try to get a photograph tomorrow if i have time.
