Some good photos there. I just got back from the fire. I was the incident controller for the past 6 hours (yay my first time) and there is not much left now. Currently there is 2 units patrolling and there will be patrols until Tuesday. I was up north on holiday when the fire broke out, and I missed all the fun! We were calling friends in different brigades to try and find out if our houses were in danger, lucky we were all fine. I was amazed that only 2 houses were lost, you guys did an amazing job, and so did those helitacks! I took a few pics of the burnt ground I may post if they are any good.
Thank you everyone for your help up here.
Regards
Sam

Could also be an academy one manned by callback staff. The only reason i suggest that is the lack of magnetic name bar (and yes i know how easy they are to lose)

Theres a name badge there, it's on the rear door. and Guildford I think has a big one which they put on the front of the truck...yes they're easy to lose, Air Operations is on the look out for their magnets.

Why give these Brigade's HSR's when they seldom get a call?? Not sure I've ever heard either called to a Hazmat, MVA or Structure Fire..

The age of the vehicle would be one reason. They are still an FRS brigade and therefore can be used to attend any such incident. Ops were directing them to a hazmat shed at parkerville so they are still therefore used for it.
However yest you are correwct that they mainly get used for grassies

agreed
i think there certainly are(no offence to the guildford or bassendean 2nd brigades) other vfrs brigades in the metro area that are more active and are in need of a replacement hsr,but then again LPs from wat ive heard arent the nicest vehicle.there made for a purpose though i guess

Maybe with a new appliance they'd be able to get out more, and it would add to the image and hopefully make recruiting easier, no one wants to go to a brigade with an old looking pump when they can go to a brigade with a nice new pump, which is bigger and more likely to get called.

We (basso) get alot of call outs to bush fires just for the use of our LT
and i agree that if we had a new pump it might make recuiting a bit easier.
Having said that, we are located next to a career station and the money might be spent better off else where. But if there is a chance of a 2nd hand old pump (MP) bring it on.

I thought you guys as well as guildford were in line for a new HSR. Happy to send ours to you so that we can have a new one.Reckon Armadale would be happy to do the same

theres talk of basso and guildford merging that has been going on for a while now, which make sense, so i think they are waiting for us to join before any talk of new trucks. Nice thought but Bomber

Among the rumours is shifting Basso to Whiteman Park. But that's what they are... rumours.
