What is a VKI Alarm

All;
Yesterday around 8:30pm (i think) - VKI on channel 8 issued an urgent Priority 2 in [southern suburbs]*EDIT, - they said something about a VKI Urgent Alarm.
What does this mean?? Is this the panic button people in Protective Custody use if they are under threat by someone? Or is this the alarm off Duty Police officers use to get help?
They went to a different channel without mentioning what they were switching to. - So i don't know what was happening.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Moved out of "General" and into "WA Police" section of the forum...
My theory is it's a hard wired alarm, similar to how some buildings have fire alarms connected to the fire brigade or security alarms that go back to a security monitoring company...
I'd hazard a guess that it'll be something like an alarm at a senior politician or government official's residence, or perhaps a consulate, or something of that nature...

I don't think this should actually be mentioned what it is. And no I'm not having a go at anyone, but some things need to stay untold....

I disagree.
The whole purpose of this forum is to share information of a "general knowledge" type. Gkoutlis has done the right thing and trimmed any information that could identify the person or location, so privacy and security are maintained.
I don't believe it does any harm to know what they are talking about in general terms, I only think it'd be a problem if it could be tied down to a particular person, thing or place.
Cheers,

Iv been told from a source that unless we have permission from the owners of the frequency we are writen about, we are not suppose to give full on job details about events that are happening, sorta like copy right, like during persuits and stuff, even though its a free to air thing, anybody else with any more info on this? otherwise some of us could get into some trouble, myself included. JG,
There's been a lot of "I have heard" stuff passed on to me over the years when it comes to scanning.
The rule that I apply to myself is that I'll believe it if someone can quote me the specific section of the specific act that says something isn't allowed, otherwise I'll just treat it as someone's opinion rather than a fact.
Regards,

Agreed Doug.
Persuits in spelt PURSUITS. JG-103 I'm buying you a dictionary for Xmas dude.
As long as nothing of a sensitive nature is posted here I'm pretty sure we are not breaking any rules/regulations/acts/statutes.
I get pissed of when I see unmarked cars on the News with their number plates clearly visible, I saw D7 the other night on TV after that huge pursuit last Monday and D2 was on the News at that attempted 201 at the Jewellers in South Perth a few months back, it makes me wonder why they are allowed to do this, so much for having unmarked cars and protecting the safety of our blue and girls in blue.
I'm sure that is more of an issue than the stuff we post on this forum.
cheers

Channel 10 News on Tuesday night showed a shot of a scanner with the frequency and ch number clearly visible and had played some
audio of the actual chase in progress!
Sorry JG-103 but I don't agree, if the media can play in a news segment what's the harm in posting a few sketchy details about a chase??
I'm refering to that huge chase last Monday night.
Chill out folks.

You said it yourself Tom, they are just unmarked cars thats all. Any Tom dick or Harry(sorry) could pick them from a mile away.
When you start talking about undercover cars then yes I think there would be a problem......

I'm all for protecting stuff when its necessary but really....
You could be walking down the street and see an unmarked cop car and then talk about it with someone at a later stage, is that an issue? I doubt it.
Why does it matter whether they show the number plates on unmarked cars?
Every car has them and thus can be identified by them- thats the point! What about marked police cars? They make a point of distinguishing themselves to the public and are easily identifiable by number plate or callsign.
Lastly in my dribbling, if the police really were bothered about the cars I doubt they'd take them to any car dealership to be serviced by ordinary everyday mechanics such as my other half. These people have to inspect the vehicles throughout, they drive the cars on public roads in the public eye, and are even seen by other cops passing by who don't bother about it so why should people on here be so concerned about number plates! It's a matter of mutual trust.
