Online FESA scanner?

Hi All.
Now that I have the bandwidth I was thinking about the idea I had a while ago on offering an online feed of a few of the 78Mhz FESA channels. Is anyone interested?
If anyone else wants to set up the stream, I'm happy to program up a Philips FM93 receiver for them to use... you'll just need an antenna and ADSL2

Awesome

Hey Gav,
To be honest, I don't think i've *ever* listed to FESA. Reason being is as you know I was from Bunbury in the early days, and there was hardly any action, and where I lived the reception was pretty average.
Since I came up to Perth i've never really known which freq's to listen to, but have always been interested.
I could not really set anything up perminant here because I have nowhere to put it, but if I could offer any assistance server or bandwidth-wise I would be happy to do so.
Just got nowhere for a radio and antenna setup!!
Oh well, if anyone wants a hand in "re-streaming" or anything to take a bit of load off their own DSL connections then i'm happy to help out. I have 8/384 but my connection sits idle 99% of the time and I don't use torrents. So there's plenty of upload to go around

Hi guys,
Absolutley - I think its a great idea - its hard to tune in to the main Fesa channel - so if its okay with others, I'd like the opportunity to try it out - online streaming...
Cheers

I think it's a great idea! I'd offer to help with hosting it but we don't have ADSL2 - only recently got ADSL at all up this way.

57 is also fairly busy, and any fires in Darlington area you'll hear us turn out on that with Midland. Otherwise the channels look alright, don't need to worry too much about the fireground channels.

Lol. Ok. I'll do it then. My brother has finished building our Windows server so I'll get it on that soon. Anyone know of a good audio streaming program?
The channels I can receive clearly here are:
57, 25, 16, 17, 23, 32, 34, 36, 38

I have used winamp with an addon program which worked well. Don't remember the name but it certainly worked on the server at my old work. I'll PM you the details when I find out what it was called.

Thanks Wes, I now have shoutcast going
This is up as a test only at this stage and the receiver is on channel 57.
You'll need Winamp
http://www.winamp.com to play this. Feedback is appreciated:

Cool.
Just noticed a few people connect and then disconnect a minute later. Yeah... 6AR isn't feeling particularly talkative this afternoon

Connected and listening mate. Pretty quiet yep

. May be worth connecting a wideband receiver with Wapol etc on it while you test the stream.Great Idea though Gav.

It seems to connect with VLC Media Player. Heard nothing for 3 mins then I disconnected.
Tried with Quicktime. Connected, heard Northam VFRS on scene so I disconnected.
6AR must have been whispering earlier.

If you have a windows server, then use the Windows Media Streaming Encoder (service) It's great because it's no fuss and it runs in the background without you having to worry about it.

Thanks Bonez.
I'll have a look at that too. It's all experimental at this stage
Last time I did streaming audio, Real Player was state of the art...
