It's good that there are a couple of common frequencies that different agencies can use to communicate with each other but I'm curious to know if they are all called "A and B" by all the different agencies, or if they all refer to them slightly differently.
Anyone know?

According to the FESA document, that's what they're called - emergency channel A and B.
If I were planning a system like that I'd have channel C and D programmed for portable repeater work too <shrug>
The new FESA comms system (WA Emergency Radio Network or WAERN) will enable FESA to chat with SJA, other branches of FESA, WA Police (to a limited extent), marine radio and UHF CB. This will include channels A & B.
I can tell you that the new SES radios (Motorola something somethings)
and from memory the Taits have emergency services A and B programmed in, they show on the screen when you access those channels.
isnt there also a frequency range from about 412 - 413Mhz? of ambluance operations? i put that in my scanner and it searches between those frequencies and i hear those "melvile priotiry 1" messages.
is that all you will hear of the ambulances? just those priority messages being broadcasted?
