Guys, just come back from Jandakot after a long flight with Instructor - We responded to a full-scale Marine Emergency - a 18foot boat with 4 POB was in the stages of sinking 4kms off Mindarie -
We Orbited the boat and sighted 2 alive climbing ontop of the ships hull..... We were circling for over 2.5 hours - Rescue 65 was delayed to provided "Search and Rescue" as they had a burns victim on board heading towards RPH - Polair 61 was unavailable to do the Search & Rescue....
Sadly from the air - One occupant - Confirmed did not make it... -

It was the hardest stuff to see from the air!!! - We called in Whitfords Sea Rescue - as well as other boats who saw Emergency Flare from boat prior to it sinking..... Search is still happening to locate one more survivor - using the new Search and Rescue Plane with Red/White markings.... We had to return - as we where way low on fuel.....
Anyone - please keep me posted as to the outcome on the other survivor.... What a day....

What went wrong out there though? Did the boat capsize in the huge swell or something else? Sad tho

Geez, Mr G, you have had a big weekend!

Valid Point there Fastlane - I have absolutley no idea -- now you got me thinking - they should have - unless it was not here in Perth?????
But when we teamed up with another plane - we tried to raise Rescue 65 - however she had a burns patient onboard - so she was delayed for abit - but was glad to see her eventually....
We would have stayed to keep searching, but the Diamonds only have 91Ltrs of usable fuel - so - yeah - sad really about the other bloke who passed away, and the other one still missing.....

2 choppers and a fixed wing out there today.. friends live on the coast at Quinns and have been watching them all morning.
Rescue 65, another chopper with a red tail (RAAF Rescue or Chan 7 ?) and a yellow fixed-wing aircraft.

Looks like they may have found him

At least it would bring some closure to the family... My thoughts are with them.
