complete speculation, but if previous episodes at that location are anything to go by:
1. Attack in the toilet
2. Drug overdose in the roilet
3. Drunk person falling and cracking their head open (New Years eve just gone).
Keep us posted

4. Macdonalds Forrest Place having a 'Happy Hour'

You do get a large number of indigenous folk that way, so if it was a large group of them attacking someone, quite possibly.
There was a fight last Wednesday around 12:45 out the front of the old Cinema complex on Murray Street with two aboriginals fighting and a group of about 6 to 8 more watching on.
Two patrol officers and two on bikes attended that prior to my departure.

Why are situations like this treated all hush-hush?
That is if someone did jump from the overpass.
Incidentally, at around 8pm-ish tonight a person was found at the bottom of the DNA tower in King's Park. SJA received a call saying there was 'a body' there, then the caller hung up. The reception was shite but I think police said it looks like an 'attempt'. They then asked for SJA to come to the scene, so I assume it must'nt have been the persons time to go yet.

Any suicide is sad, however news wont report on a suicide (unless its a known, famous person etc).
No point in gloryfying someone who decided to take there own life, after all other people might get the same idea and do likewise...

I was in the city today and there were flowers up against the wall of the underground carpark so sadly I would have to say yes.

I understand what you're saying here Danny, but to be honest I really don't think that keeping it quiet is going to stop people doing it.
It hasn't made a difference so far anyway, I believe it simply adds to the stigma surrounding the issue and the attitude in society that if we don't talk about it, it will go away.
Sadly it's the loved ones who are left to suffer what often seems like a cruel blow, but the stigma that goes with it certainly increases the impact.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go at you Danny because I'm not.
This issue really irks me, and I wanted to give others some food for thought.
*Hops off soapbox*

they actually used to put a name plaque on Ayers Rock for those that had died whilst making the climb...
.. unfortunately it became a suicide magnet, so they had to stop doing it.. (this was many years ago when I did the climb... 1990 I think?).
talking about the whole depression cycle is a good thing.. and is way more prevalent these days than it used to be.. it is at least now being recognized more as a disease than a 'mental problem'.. I guess the 'failures' of the family and medical systems still dont rate a mention though, when someone sees no other solution than to take their life..
