6AR Interference

Post by roland985 »

6AR has had blank audio being piped through all the major command channels.

It is unknown if this is deliberate interference, or if it is a technical issue.

I heard this yesterday morning and this morning as well. Hopefully the tech's get on top of it. Now I'm no expert but yesterday morning I thought I could hear the transmission trying to end but it kept itself open.

Some have speculated that it may be malicious, but I think some repeater is stuck open somewhere.

The MOC is apparently down, and all comms are being routed to the Bunker in Belmont.

There's been some interference or a stuck PTT button since today at about 12:30pm. Anyone know some more about this?

Whoever it is needs to be hunted down. Very easy to do with the right equipment as they keep transmitting for long periods of time. You can hear a TV/radio or some kind of audio book type thing in the background. To my untrained ear, its malicious. You can't be accidentally pressing PTT for hours on end, and most DFES radios are set to beep and/or time out after a small period of time of which this isn't doing.

All the repeaters seem to be jammed right now, blank audio being played on all the repeaters I attempted to listen to. I'll see if I can find the input frequency.

Scanning the inputs now. I'll update as I search.
Skipping 380, 371, 377 372, 376, 328, 207 and 246 since they're out of my area.
Can't hear anything on 205 input. I could hear faint traffic from a Wanneroo appliance.
Nothing on 372's input.
Null for 220.
Blank for 217.
Zilch at 379. And job number 449700 has been reached.

That concludes my attempt, maybe someone with more than a HT can try?

It seems to have started about 1547. I've checked all the ones I can think of north of the river with a roof mounted antenna and nothing is transmitting up here (very quick check though).

Started around the same time for me in Mandurah too on 217. Seems to be quite intermittent, but no one's able to be heard when it's going.

The DFES stream with alpha tags locks onto midband 25 with the static, and that channel only.

I think it's a fault with channel 380 (Red Hill), as I had to change the main stream over to 6IP again as this repeater that I normally use was doing the half the conversation audio thing at about the same time as the noise.
