Hi All,
First time poster, short term reader.
I am wondering if this was the accident on Hammond Rd near Russell Rd this evening around 10pm or so? I was one of the first on the scene, and had to call 000. I am fairly shaken up over this, so I am wondering if anyone has heard anything about this? I am hoping however unlikely that there wasnt a fatality.
Cheers
JB

Dont know what happened but AV250 called the Coroner to the scene.
Double the fines and double the demerits.......

Hey jb67,
Welcome
Sorry to hear you were there. they are not the best scenes to go to. It sounds like you did your best while there but unfortunately crashes like that will never end. It is not always the case of speed. Just a simple loss of concentration can result in a fatality.

Sorry to hear that yet another young person has died but yet again it seems to me to be the usual reasons for the accident - speed, inexperience, stupidty and possibly alcohol.
On my trip to Perth (from Bunbury) last night and return this afternoon I was appalled by the number of vehicles driven at excessive speeds, often in torrential rain, many with 'P' plates. Also the almost complete lack of Police on the roads.
In the 400km round trip I only saw one Radar trap (at Lake Clifton on the way home) and only two Police cars, and one of them was parked in a shopping centre car park in Miami. Where are you guys???
On the Roe Hwy, last night, I was passed by SIX high powered cars (Impressas, HSVs etc) all in a line, obviously racing, as if I was standing still. Two of them with 'P' plates, all with three or four teenagers aboard.
I know the Police, like most services, are understaffed AND underpayed but...

Thanks for the welcome guys. I am having a bit of trouble dealing with this all, its the first accident I have ever really been to and its hard to have see these kids hysterical, screaming, punching the car in anger and pleading with there mate to 'wake up. It truly broke my heart.
There was another accident on Rusell road about 4-5 months back (that was just behind my back yard. Thankfully I really didnt have much to do with it, the other locals were fairly quick in sorting everything out), which prompted me to write an email to the mayor of cockburn complaining about the quality of the roads particularly the lack of cycleways. The bad thing is, the accident last night was due to booze and speed. However if you have a look at where it happened, you will see that the road is a death trap. I have written a letter to the West indicating such things. I really hope they print it, because in my mind hte city of Cockburn is largely responsible. If that area of road had of had the appropriate lighting, signage and other safety precautions adhered to, there is a good chance the accident would not have happened.

I suggest you write/email/call your local member of parliament if you want more police. People like yourself need to stop blaming fine people who do their best for the community for what they have...
How can you suggest that this is a police problem
(I know the Police, like most services, are understaffed AND underpayed but..)when it goes far beyond that. People need to start taking responsibility for themselves and stop trying to pass the buck....

Very sad.. only 18.
I think the other crash earlier in the night on West Coast Hwy has also gone 316 though not confirmed.
Thank you to the person that called me on the Success job that I failed (yet again) to get your name sorry. Very much appreciated! Cheers.

Hi,
Sorry if I offended anyone, it wasn't my intention. I wasn't blaming the Police, I was trying to say in my 'inept' way, that there aren't enough of them around and that they can't be everywhere.
