Jail for police burglar
From:
July 06, 2006
A WOULD-be burglar who was surprised while robbing a police officer's house was jailed yesterday.
Jason Charles Dare, 26, of Bastick St, Rosny, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and stealing, at Tranmere earlier this year.
The Supreme Court in Hobart heard the police officer and his wife arrived home to find a vehicle parked in their driveway, the front door ajar and an inside light on.
Dare was leaving the house carrying a large blue bag when he was confronted by the officer.
Dare ran at and punched the officer and pushed him out of the way.
He then jumped into the vehicle and drove away but crashed into a fence and abandoned the vehicle.
Investigating police discovered the vehicle was registered in Dare's name and found his mobile phone with the vehicle.
Dare at first denied having anything to do with the burglary; he said he had let someone borrow his vehicle.
However the police officer identified Dare from a photograph.
Justice Shan Tennent jailed Dare for nine months; non-parole of seven months.

Torchlight biker charged
'A MOTORCYLIST came to grief while trying to ride home at night under torch light.
The 17-year-old suffered multiple leg fractures after crashing into a roundabout and cartwheeling in to scrub on a Port Hedland road, 1640km north of Perth, last night.
Police were stunned to discover the youth had attached a Dolphin torch to the front of the Yamaha motorcycle to replace a broken headlight.
He was treated in Port Hedland Regional Hospital for multiple injuries before being charged with reckless driving, failing to stop, and not having a driver's licence.'
http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0 ... 61,00.html
I guess there are many ways to use a Dolphin torch??? Ever heard the saying 'only in America'? Well, I'm now thinking 'only in Hedland'

(and note I am an ex-Hedlandite myself)

This one's not a criminal, but I'd like to know how many men on this forum would do this for money... I know my hubby wouldn't even do it for a million bucks let alone $2600!
Man cuts off penis in bet
A MAN who cut off his own penis in a drunken bet had it stitched back on by Latvian doctors, the first such operation in the country's history.
While strongly under the influence of alcohol, the 30-year-old made a bet with his friend for 1000 lats ($A2600) that he would cut off his penis, according to a Latvian public television report.
He was taken to hospital with severe bleeding yesterday.
"We have had a few cases with penis traumas, when it was half-cut or damaged, but this is the first time that it was totally cut off - and brought to hospital in a plastic bag," said microsurgeon Aivars Tihonovs from Gailezers hospital in the Latvian capital, Riga.
The operation lasted three and a half hours as doctors had to sew six nerves back together, according to media reports.
"The first operation of this kind in the world was carried out in 1977, and it is still very rare," Dr Tihonovs said, adding that such surgery was sometimes needed after bomb explosions.
The surgeon said that he was proud of his work but also "really angry that he (the patient) did it to himself".
Doctors said that it would take four or five days to assess if the operation was successful. It would take about half a year to be sure that the man's penis was functioning properly.

I hope they end up catching those involved in this. Its because of these people that has partly contributed to WAPOL switching to digital and having the infomation encrypted.
