Even the Pro-28 can pick up 2m and 70cm. I think it does 50-52MHz but not 52-54MHz :-\

He's out at Armadale and has just received a new shipment of them.

I doubt it, and even if it is, seems to make a decent cheap first radio :)

Yaesu VX-7R Handheld Transceiver

Admittedly it's not the cheapest out there, but I'd like something that'll last I've also heard good things about the Yaesu brand on here...Any good considering although I'll be starting as a pleb I don't want to remain one forever. :)

I have the VX-5R. Older than the 7R but a good rig nonetheless.

Depends how much need you will have for handheld 6 metres. I decided to get the VX-3R dual bander and leave 6 metres for a decent rig.

the VX-5R is ok but they don't like being dropped. Now, mine's completely deaf on VHF :-(

I heard somebody saying they dropped their 7R in the pool and it's still working 100% so there's a plus

Well based on the apparent ruggedness/waterproofness, and the possibility to expand later I've gone with the 7R.
Haven't heard back a definite yes from Ham college as yet, but then I haven't heard a definite no, so hopefully I'll get a yes you're on the 20th/21st Sept course :)

Can you use 6 metres on a Foundation license?
