Major Fires 2007/08 (Bush/Scrub)

nah bomber, heltacs arent there, could smell the faint hint of smoke in my house, so i got the scanner going, walked outside and into a blanket of low lying smoke haze, a lot worse than yesterday (from the mandurah incident). Heard rocko 2nd arrive, then heard helitacs standing down from lake carra up fastlanes way. I drove that way yesterday, down old mandurah rd, and went past 2 passenger side attemps, both contained between the verge and the fire break, so someone has been trying, unless it was from the other week when we had the arsonist ???

jg - correct about the other spots they were the night that ankatell went up. Heard the helitacs and just assumed but thanks for the info

bloody hell!!! That person was crazy ! Def would have been a 2 person job, one driving and one throwing em out the passenger window, coz there is no way you'd be game enough to keep getting out to light em, especially when we were all around the area.

2 of the Helitacs were in Carabooda/Nowergup. Probably where you heard them heading to/from.

If any one attend the Carabooda/Nowergup incident, did it get into the lake or peaty area. I can see from the map that it would of been close but couldn't pick up the fire ground channel. This would be interesting to know as I am working on a project in that area on acid sulphate soils and fire.

They're putting in heaps of resources, Perth have just arrived and Malaga is heading there I believe, Belmont ICV is on site, 96 and 97 are the command channels

my missus just went past it on the way to work she reckons theres a large amount of resources there and also belmont icv and waterbombers,she said its going fairly well and filled the polypipe full of smoke.
