Midland just found a shorting out power pole or something like that, transmission was very scratchy, but they have stood down back-up (Darlington).

Pager reports that it was an Air conditioner fire, Pitterson Road.
Oh and very happy with 6AR so far they've been providing us with Map references in the page!

Noticed Kwinana Pump yesterday - Anketell Rd before Motorplex - just mopping up - the only other crew left from that scrub fire.

Not any more though. Got turned out to a mop up on Pechey road in Swan View. I was in Darlington LT2. assisting midland.
Put 3 quarters of a tank on it, and got stood down and went to assist bassendean at a small scrub/grass fire on farrall road, had the helitacs do a few drops and when Midland finished they came and joined us with Darlington Light Tanker 1.

Didn't have the oppurtunity, when there's only 2 in a light tanker and a pump and light tanker have arrived at the same time as you. The fire had jumped the rail lines for a lot of it I was also on the end of the hose or watching for trains. I'm also still fairly new and that was my second running fire as initial turn out crew, and I was with the station captain.

Great fun, it's good that at the smaller incidents you can pretty much find work to do. We got directed a bit where they wanted us, but after it was contained we got a bit of freedom. Don't really get that sort of thing with the SES or the adrenaline rush (except where Cliff rescues and Road Accident Rescues are involved), even if it is a small job, wouldn't mind learning some of the stuff required for the big trucks though BA etc.
