Amen to that :) even state based recommendations would be good.

Standard uniform/vehicle livery & vehicle standards for private providers.

You forgot to add medic one to the list and also patient transfer services <who ever they are>

I didnt forget to add medic one , i intentionally left them out because this company truley has the students best interests at heart, and to the best of my knowledge has maintained both its integrety and standards whilst searching for improvement at all times at above current australian standards. I know this may sound bias and no, i do not have a working relationship with them but feel free to contact them and sus out what their all about. :)

Oh i see, lol i mentioned Medicone because they fall in the same category as the ones you listed Ambulance/First Aid providers.

The courses they run seem ok you can become a paramedic in a very very short time though for a fee dont know if thats a good or bad thing.

All good to pass a test if you cant put it into real life then your degree is as good as toilet paper.

National standards have been mentioned in another thread and will probarly be nationwide SOMEDAY but not anytime soon.

Compare Uni course to Uni course, most are about the same time frame.

Cert IV in Emergency Care (usually obtain within 12 months)

Diploma (usually within 2 years)

Bachelor (usually at 3 years)

But going through a service MAY take you longer even up to 6 years :P

i totally agree MMW but to do some of their courses as of this year i think u already have to be working for an ambulance provider and have accompanying log books to recertify inclusive of prac.,and your dead right in saying that a piece of paper is useless without having the experience to accompany it.

Kyle. I think PFO was talking about the ownership of ALAS not the training registration.

You would need to check ASICS database and/or do a business name search which will list who the owner of ALAS was.

I dont know if the ownership has been changed but i have it from a good source an overseas company are setting up in Perth July 2008 they currently have services in NSW & VIC im not sure but either Finland/Germany is homebase for them.

PFO I know the company depo is located next to Dicksmiths in Rockingham [unless that has changed however agian I would be suprised if they did]. Yes they havn't updated there website however I think one is in the works. When I was there allot of changes going on as the company was growing. Like I said I always was told whilst working there that Lynda was the boss and Paul the manager. Lynda was as high as you could go to talk to in the company. Unless this has changed between now and December which would be very surprising? However PFO you seem to be giving me the impression you know something to the contrary so feel free to let me know.?
why did u leave, if you dont mind my asking
