That has happened here in Perth as well. I remember following (on the scanner) a similar procession down the Great Northern Highway past Bullsbrook and all the way to RPH with police cars blocking intersections to give a country ambulance clear passage for a spinal patient.

The logistics of making it happen is enough to send me dizzy at the though of it!
