And working in the city just sucks for pager interference

As soon as I get to about where the Civic Theatre Restaurant used to be on Beaufort Street it starts ... any of the repeater frequencies that I have programmed in that don't have tone start belching pager noise.
I usually just lock it on one that has tone to shush it

Heard quite a few new F callsigns in the last couple of days. Good to hear them getting straight into it.

Awesome! That's what we like ... enthusiasm!
And right in time for JOTA too when there'll hopefully be lots of young voices on air, getting a taste for what a fun hobby it is

I'll be in that. Listening out for VK callsigns ending in SAA-SDZ and GGA-GGZ.

So do the scouts/gg talk only to other scouts/gg or to us commoners as well?

Oh it wouldn't surprise me if someone somewhere has been a bit over-enthusiastic before. Hopefully nobody from WA though
Tonight on VK6RAP someone jumped the gun.
I lost a bet with myself. Turns out he is now licenced.

I believe the point of the exercise is to for them to talk to other scouts and guides if possible. At the moment on 146.700 there's a group from the Peter Hughes Scout Communications Centre (VK6SH) having a QSO with some scouts and guides from Dianella (VK6TWO).
I think if a group of scouts or guides were putting a call out and no JOTA stations replying, it'd be OK to jump in - after all the point is for the kids to have a good time and to have a chance to get on air. But obviously it's much better if they can talk to other scouts or guides.
But the ones I'm hearing on air seem to be having fun, so it's all good

That sounds about how it is. Some of them are pretty raring to go. One youngster I heard made me feel quite inadequate. He'll be hosting some game show in 15 years.

Some of them are quite good, remembering to drop in the callsigns every now and then and to use "over" and so on...
Then there's some munchkins who have obviously never talked into a radio mic before, but hey - they're keen and they're giving it a go. What more can you ask for?

Help -Forms to fill out on completion of Foundation License

Hi Folks.
have been following this thread with regards to the foundation License.
My Question is --
Can anyone advise me which form when filling out the forms at completion of the test , is the form that uses your address on the ACMA website when people look up your callsign ?
The reason i ask is that i believe there are a couple forms requiring your address and i wish to use a PO.BOX ad ( rather than my home ad ) for the one that appears on the ACMA site under my callsign.
Any advice appreciated.
thanks alot.

I haven't checked but I don't think they'd allow a PO Box for that address, as that is where you're licensed to tranmit, so effectively you'd be mobile for every transmission unless you were checking your post.

That's right. The ACMA still need to know your home address, but you can ask for them to publish your PO Box on the Radiocommunications Register. (i.e. the ACMA website)
