Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan and Police Minister John Kobelke will this morning hold a media conference announcing the completion of the rollout of the TADIS digital in-car dispatch system in all Perth police patrol cars...
...In an Australian first, all police vehicles patrolling the Perth metropolitan area now have access to the WAPOL data base through the digital in-vehicle Tasking and Dispatch Information System (TADIS)...
...Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan said the final phase of the TADIS rollout across metropolitan police districts and specialist units had been completed...
...After undergoing a successful pilot during the latter part of 2006, TADIS has now been successfully rolled out to all officers across the metropolitan area...
So why then, even as recently as today, do we keep hearing officers telling VKI that they don't have TADIS in their vehicle

TADIS isn't in non-operational vehicles like community policing and for OSH if your vehicle is used 1-up its not allowed (K9, bosses cars etc.)

ok then, im sorry KARL, i assume OSH is Occupational Saftey & Health, i was told at TAFE they changed is from OH&S.
but more to the point, i assume TADIS fitted vehiclesnt alloud home so officers couldnt just do non-work-related searches on people?? it's the best excuse i could come up with.

I would vote that its not for 1 up officers so they can't use it while driving? Though if that is the case surely they can rig it to the handbrake like commercial screens.
If not then I'd assume as said that its a risk having it at home (more chance of it getting broken into and stolen?)

TADIS can be used by a man 1UP (that dounds awfully like Mario Brothers).
The vehicle must come to a stop before buttons are active for use.
Vehicles are without TADIS for any number of reasons. OSH [nowhere to put the screen that won't cause a danger in a crash], hasn't yet been installed/new vehicle, vehicle is a non-tasking vehicle and doesn't require it [if you aren't doing jobs, there's always the inquiry channel for searches], or simply enough the vehicle's TADIS is getting fixed.
I doubt very much that security/being stolen is an issue. Each PC in the vehicle would have an associated MAC address or signature/similar that could be shut off, similar to the new digital radios. Plus the need for passwords etc. Plus, they all have their GPS.
