ESTIMATED INITIAL TSUNAMI WAVE ARRIVAL TIMES AT FORECAST POINTSFastlane wrote:If you read the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre's warnings, if there is going to be anything it's due to hit Geraldton in a couple of minutes. (and strangely, it says Perth 15 mins ago).
Considering Cocos Islands got a whole 15cm wave...
WITHIN THE WARNING AND WATCH AREAS ARE GIVEN BELOW. ACTUAL
ARRIVAL TIMES MAY DIFFER AND THE INITIAL WAVE MAY NOT BE THE
LARGEST. A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF WAVES AND THE TIME BETWEEN
SUCCESSIVE WAVES CAN BE FIVE MINUTES TO ONE HOUR.

Was in Geraldton when the 'big one' hit. Town Beach carpark underwater and lots of erosion damage along the beaches north of town. Was certainly a talking point, and a big clean-up for the local authorities.Rockjet wrote:...the last one we got damage here with a tidal surge, a couple of boats sank in the marina and all the rabbit burrows got flooded out at Pages Beach.
