Hilighters are awesome!
Hmmmm.... the plot thickens! Mine is a diesel with a ULP pump.
Yep Hilighters are awesome indeed - why I bought them. ;)

I was, umm... donated... yeah... two pairs of overalls and bushfire hemets by some awesome gent from a certain BFB. They're on the farm. I've managed to acquire an additional two sets of turnout gear for myself and one of the other firies who works with me. (He and I will be first port of call in 90% of the cases.) As for the kiddies I will, once the truck is as complete as I can get it, apply to the Cadets group and the P&C to get some more PPE for the kids to use when training. That'll probably be next year at this stage - the 'Cruiser still needs a bit of work.

Wes now all it needs is Fire on the bumper, one going normal and the other in reverse as per usual, well at least our one light tanker has that on it.

Nah... I'm leaving it as is at the mo. I have enough to do with getting the new beacons on. They arrived today. :D

If its being used on private property or at the school you would probably get away with leaving the RED/BlUES on for the kids. Just dont use them on the road.

Nice truck though, did you pay for it or did the school get the bill?

I have the option for reds and blues but the licence says amber.

All private paid by me.

The lights near the grill do you need to take them off if you drive on the road?

Looks great Wes.

Why can't you leave the blues and reds on permanently?

Is it just a personal project of will it become part of the Mt Barker VFRS fleet?

i am surprised you have to take them, off admittedly you don't want just anyone driving out L&S, although from what I can remember you disonnected the siren.

Yep Tyranus - siren is disconnected but easily re-connected if needed. The registration restrictions are severe. As it's licenced as a fire appliance, I'm technically only allowed on the road for fuel, servicing and repairs.

Tom, it's entirely an entirely private venture. As it stands, some of the VFRS guys here would love to have it as a reserve light tanker, especially over the summer bushfire period. Negotiating with FESA will be a long, slow and difficult proposition. (Methinks nigh on impossible.)

The strobes are attached and are not coming off. Nothing in the rules say they have to be removed. As long as they're not used on the road (which won't be happening very often) I'm not breaking the law. (If someone in the legal field has a differing point of view I would love to hear it!) Same with the beacon covers. As it was, they were only on there for show and the ambers are on now. Tomorrow is a different matter. (Read down for further info.)

Tomorrow the school I work at is having a "Mud Run" at which my LT will have its first public outing in its full livery. It's essentially a shower on wheels but I'm sure it'll be a damn good looking shower!

Yet another update to bring you more developments.

* A new standpipe has arrived and has been added.
* The new College logo is now on the doors of the truck.
* My old spade has been replaced by a new one.
* Clips have been added to the passenger side locker for safety.
* The wheel rims have been painted white for added visual impact. The tyres were also "blacked".
* A local Brigade asked to borrow the appliance while theirs was away getting repaired. It was not required for active duty.
* The same Brigade used it in a relay pumping training drill.

Below are photos of the appliance with the new logos. I had just washed the truck.

Ahhh very nice Wes! I was just wondering what had happened with this little project and was going to come and find this thread! Great to hear that there's a lot of interest in your truck. As far as I'm concerned anything that can carry water and put out fire is good, even better if it's being operated by trained personal. Keep up the good work mate, and if I'm down in the area wouldn't mind having a look at it in the flesh!

Well mate, you know you can PM me before heading down and I'll give you a Captain Cook at it, no trouble at all. I'll even give you a tour of our Station.

I've spoken to my Area Manager who suggested joining a local BFB would be a good way to get it used.

Next project is to get the TFT branch adaptor.
