If you look at Todays news it appears Ben Cousins may have booked himself into the same drug rehab as Robbie Williams. Good luck to him while he is in there but still I feel as tho the Eagles should get rid of him. After all they got rid of Gardiner. What are they teaching the future players of AFL that it is ok to take drugs providing you are a great player? Youngsters look up to players such as Ben Cousins and see them as role models from this they could now assume that it is fine to take drugs. Enough is enough get rid of him.

I don't know if any of you have read the PerthNow site and the readers comments but most of them are 'Leave him alone'. Personally I feel that ignoring the issue of drug abuse and alcohol problems regardless of who it is sets a dangerous precedent. Funny thing is he'd probably be villified if he smoked!

Well now that his family have made the news official, I can only say that I am soooooo sad that it is a drug addiction. For anyone who has ever known someone with a drug addiction, you could only say it is the one of the hardest things you will ever have to watch someone go through.
I agree with Spartan that it should not be ignored, but it is up to the media to portray it in the right way. I was against him being hounded, but now that the truth is out, I am sure everyone will leave him alone. Now it is up to the media to perhaps educate those who look up to Ben as to what can happen if you play with drugs. But I think that vilifying him will not help him to recover, and only lead to further or repeat problems. I just hope that he and his family choose to take him to Arizona where he can be away from all of what is being said over the next few weeks.

It looks as tho Daniel Kerr has now been included in the drug scandal at the West Coast Eagles Camp. Here is the link to read all about it.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/20 ... 880296.htm. I know the eagles theme mentions they are FLYING HIGH but I did not think the players would take it litterly.

Let him sort out his life, and try to get back on track. He's a great footballer, regardless if he plays for the Eagles or not. Fame and fortune are sometimes a hindrance.
Plenty of 28yr olds in WAPOL, FESA, BFB, SES, SJA, Defence Forces etc, that I believe have achieved more and done more for the community. But that is just my opinion.

Maybe I should have said in the eyes of the media and the public?

I was more referring to the fame/fortune side of things... guess I was taken the wrong way.

Everyone else who cant accept that people make mistakes can go piss off. Nobody in this world is perfect. Everyone has a right to **** up. Not even the saints are saints (haha)...Atleast the West Coasters are honest and are facing the problem. He will be back before round 10 you wait n see!
And really, after all the shit they have gone through, to still fight strong and come out on top in the last two rounds, you have to respect that and say, this side is really something! Well done boys...and stick it Freo

Whilst I totally agree with you Bungarra I just thought i would post something to balance the issue. Please read these
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/ ... 90926.html
http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/mor ... 99954.html
I am sure with a little investigation we could probably point the bone at individuals involved in all of the abovementioned organisations but all that would prove is that nobody is perfect........and we already know that.
Good luck Ben and long live the Eagles!

bungarra, thats another issue and is irrelevant. Look many people have probably been worse, hell who ever said John Howard is a saint...
No matter who you are whatever you do...you fuk up...its part of life. Just some people make big bad mistakes, and sometimes those big bad mistakes can put your career on the line....Everyone deserves a second chance, look he knows hes in the wrong and hes sorting himself out..you cant really ask for much more...
Stupid...Yes...but no doubt, Ben Cousins as a football player is a inspiration and a great role model.....
Keep one, one and two, two, dont mix two seperate things together...
I still say stick it to you Freo you bastards....

sorry couldnt help myself...still not over that brilliant game last week

Given the way the Eagle's are playing...Ben will have to prove to John that he is needed in the team. Good Luck to Ben in his recovery.
