Apart from their incredibly aggressive and unnecessary attitude toward me, they had no real reason for giving me the infringement except that they said it was unauthorised. Now I no longer stop at MVAs or stop behind broken down vehicles in an effort to warn other vehicles of a hazard ahead. 2 bad coppers ruining it for all.
I am guessing you failed the attitude test thats why your out of pocket.

I also suggest admin pull the names of the officers because I dont see the need for them to be named. He is just trying to have a dig at them..

I do see your point Robo, but some coppers really do have a terrible attitute to start with.

For example...I was driving a heavy vehicle down Fitzgerald St on Wednesday night and this officer in AG205 rips up alongside me at the lights at Fitzgerald/James and said to me "Oi you....what does an orange light indicate" and I replied "Stop if it's safe to do so"...he then proceeded to give me a lecture about going thru orange lights...After he finished I said to him "I would of stop had I been further back but the front axle had already crossed the white line when the light went orange and if I would of attempted to stop I would of thrown everybody on-board thru the windscreen".He then drove off.

The point I'm trying to make is that some coppers have a terrible attitude even before they start their shifts..

The majority of the officers I know and have kept in contact with are pretty good fellas but their are some worries out there and it's a shame coz it brings dirt on the good ones..Along the same lines as we all judge taxi-drivers as being terrible drivers because we've all seen a handful of them doing the wrong thing...Generalization I think it's called.

Celestial, I think what was being got at was, truckie may not have been very polite, and therefor got the 2 officers backs up. So they've therefore handed him a fine. It's a classic case of co-operation, I know people who've been pulled up for doing 10k's over the limit, stopped, turned off the car, got out and walked to the police car, spoke politely to the officer, and walked back to his car with a warning, while others have been pulled over at 5K's over, and they've received a fine, because they weren't curtious, or maybe the officer was "tight" (can't think of the better word I'm looking for.) Either way, if you support the police officer, that's pulled you up, he may just give you a warning, put his back up by being rude, and he'll give you what you deserve.

I think you will find that it is preferred if you stay in your car. I guess at least that way you have less chance of doing a runner.

In defence of Robo and the whole attitude test thing, I know that I for one will treat someone differently if they give me attitude - ie not being as helpful, and generally ensuring that their behaviour is returned, even in a more subtle form.

And I think that a lot of us would find ourselves having done the same thing at least once in our lives. At the end of the day, cops are only human.......

Hey Tom,

Mate I see your point as well. I appreciate there are some cops that have attitude and unfortunately when people deal with them it gives a bad name to all Police. But knowing you, I know you have a better knowledge of Police and you also know there are a lot of great ones out there.

Even the best of them have bad days.

Also Tom I will PM you about another matter.

Agreed. However one of the things about free speech is that the responsibility for one's speech is just as important.

Unlike our US friends, free speech isn't guaranteed in our constitution, but it's something we do have. As I said, free speech isn't the license to say whatever you want, it's the ability to give your opinion freely - and be responsible for what you say.

Just to throw a spanner in the works and change the subject...

I have a warning lamp in my company vehicle that I use regularly. It's bright orange and it plugs into my cigarette lighter. Oh, and the cord gets in the way.

I use it when I drive on or around the mine site I work at. I also have a big red pole with a high-vis flag on the end. I also have to put that on my car before I can drive on site.

I have a 2004 BA Falcon ute, 2wd. Nothing special, but I have to follow the rules before going anywhere near the mining part of the operation.

If i may just add this small observation....

When I was in Kalgoorlie last year - I think the Police were having a blitz on all - cars there and I think in other places - with any vehicle having an orange globe/light bar - they'd get issued with an infringement notice. - From the few weeks that I was there, if those light's weren't removed or covered, people got fines for them - whilst driving on the streets of Kalgoorlie... Now... Is this still happening - Not just in Kal, but in Perth as well????

*NB - Just so i make it clear, that of those people that got caught, they didn't have the "lights" activated - But still got fined aparantly...???

I still don't get the yellow lights bit, seems too vague pretty much saying you just can't use them... I mean just driving to work 15% of vehicles have orange lights of some kind, construction/traffic control at roadworks/trucks etc etc, looking at that none of them are 'legal'? Yet they need them for there jobs? What about RAC vehicles? Tow trucks? Every one of them have lights, surely every single one of them doesn't need a permit? The list goes on for types of vehicles I just don't get it, yellow just means warning its not like you can attempt prioity on yellows... What about garbage trucks? Those things have several STROBES on them flashing even through traffic while they grab ze bins... Western Power crew vehicle, rapid response has no less than FOUR strobes (though I'm guessing they are permitted as they run red LED priority kits as well)...

Are the cops gonna sticker/fine every single one of them? I've also NEVER seen one of the above with *covered* lights, I mean whats the point of that exactly?

I'm so sorry Robo. I misunderstood you saying you liked something as meaning you liked something. I'm such a fool.

XXXX should not be mentioned anymore by anyone I reckon.
I wish there was a LOSER emoticon!
