Using Windows Media Player on my WM6 smartphone, when opening "http://stream.telewest.com.au:8000/listen.pls" I get the error message: Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the Player does not support the format you are trying to play

However, putting that URL into Internet Explorer opens the third party media player TCPMP, which does know what to do with it :)

The phone is a Dopod 838Pro, otherwise known as an iMate JasJam, and the network is Telstra Next-G.

Also works fine on my HTC p3600i (very similar to the Dopod 810).

It launches TCPMP and plays. Works with both packet data via the 3G network and WiFi at home.

My biggest problem is that '3' must only have about '3' towers in Perth and there's not much coverage around the place

These examples are in line with what I could recall experiencing.

Be careful especially when on Next G, as you'll be charged a fortune for excess data, unless you already have a high data plan.

Trialled a laptop Next G card (for work) when I was in Perth recently and it worked a treat. Was even able to drive around with it on the passenger seat :)

My work phone is a Samsung A501 on Telstra Next G with a 1gb data pack attached to it. I don't have a data card, just plug the handset in to my laptop via USB if I need to surf the net.

My personal phone is with 3 as I said above and I just have a 50mb data pack on that, costs me about $8 a month and includes full access to Planet 3.

The biggest problem ever is that coverage is absolutely crap. Like, really, really bad. So it kind of makes it hard to make use of that 50mb a month plus the planet 3 stuff.

On my Next G however, I get pretty close to 1gb a month through that :)

Btw, if anyone does actually figure out how to listen to the stream through a Samsung or any other phone that is not a PDA please let me know!!

Cheers

That one gives me "The parameter is incorrect" as an error in WMP.

TCPMP is great though, it'll play anything that WMP doesn't like :)

The Telewest stream is down at the moment, and the stream.warsug.info stream is really busy so you might need to try a few times before you get on. What software are you using to listen, Bigfella78?

I'm streaming using the online radio player in my Nokia n95.
Works really well on the wireless network at home and work..
I have been retrying to connect a few times and I do get on after my 3rd or 4th attempt.

We sure appreciate your efforts. The stream has had two dozen people connected lately!
