I thought I saw the helitacs drop a load or two. They definately flew in like they were, opposed to staying high and circling around....

Re: Significant bush fires 2011/12
The helitacs at this incident were unable to "safely drop load" due to ground crews tackling the fire and no comms were established between air and ground. (Channel issues).
So the helitacs returned to Perth Airport, whilst enroute back, they dropped their water at a safe location and continued to head home.

Cheers. Yeah I saw them low and assumed they were dumping. I guess we all know what happens when you assume.
This fire had potential but was definately blown out of proportion.

Jem- its a WAERN metro north comms plan, all appliances carry a folder which explains what channels/bands should be used by crews, sector commanders, IC etc.
