Many thanks to all the parties involved with the rollout of APRS infrastructure throughout W.A.
It is certainly growing in popularity and is a great fun way of communicating!
The Brand Hwy 'link' sounds very exciting and will prove an excellent resource for travellers and locals...

Re: APRS - part two
Agreed! It's nice to see the infrastructure being upgraded and improved, and plans on the way to fill in the gaps between Perth and Geraldton...

Re: APRS - part two
I was going to email Chris VK6KCH about the VK6KCH-3 digipeater in Bunbury to ask if it could be configured to digipeat as it appears not to at the moment. So a couple of days ago I obtained an email address which will suposedly get to him eventually. Doing some checking I found that VK6KSB-3 is registered to the same address. So tonight I emailed Chris asking about VK6KSB-3 digi as well as VK6KCH-3.vk6hgr wrote:Anybody know what happened to it?VK6ZMS wrote: Pinjarra going off air has left a huge hole from Rockingham to Bunbury
Will see if I get a reply.

Re: APRS - part two
From what I can tell, KCH doesn't have a suitable path set up. It only seems to appear on aprs.fi when it hits an igate directly. The one and only time I heard it here directly it had no path either. That might be by choice.

Re: APRS - part two
Does anyone have a difinitive answer as to why VK6KSB-3 in Pinjarra went off the air 20 days ago ???
Re: APRS - part two
Update: I received a reply from VK6KCH. He does not know why VK6KSB-3 went off air. He has never been to the site. Apparently the antenna there was 4 phased dipoles and it was a location with excellent coverage. Will certainly be a great pity if its gone for good.
As for the digipeater in Bunbury, it was placed at its location in a hurry to stake a claim on the location. It is apparently operating on a UHF antenna so good performance from it cannot be expected and probably a good reason to not have it digipeat and only beacon occassionally.
I gave Chris a link to this thread so maybe he will have a read at whats been happening.
So after that, I still don't know why VK6KSB-3 went offline. Must be a south of the river thing as I notice VK6USB-3 in Baldivus has not been displaying on aprs.fi for 4 or 5 days now as well.

the answer would be no, not at he moment. He did say he was composing a longer reply to me and maybe that will shed more information.VK6TNC wrote:Does anyone have a difinitive answer as to why VK6KSB-3 in Pinjarra went off the air 20 days ago ???

Rumour has it that the site has been lost The site also contained equipment for another service but that has also been removed.VK6TNC wrote:Does anyone have a difinitive answer as to why VK6KSB-3 in Pinjarra went off the air 20 days ago ???

Re: APRS - part two
With Martin's assistance we sorted out the issues with HARG's digipeater VK6AHR-3 and we now have weather via APRS (real RF stuff, none of this radioless nonsense ) Humidity is invalid data at the moment until I get hold of the device for the station.
