The Surf Lifesaver Helicopter was "performing operations 1000ft over Bunbury" , as they kept telling other aircraft, hovering over the same spot for almost an hour this afternoon.

Re: Surf Lifesaver Helicopter
If that's the same chopper mentioned on ABC local radio, it was monitoring traffic flows.
Re: Surf Lifesaver Helicopter
Funny you should say that. I almost did a U turn and take a photo of something else I saw at the same time. There was a guy in a elevated working platform (otherwise generally known as a cherry picker) video taping the traffic, which I thought was strange. I have seen the 4WD's with their camera up a telescopic mast monitoring traffic but never a bloke up a EWP with a camera.WPXZBP wrote:If that's the same chopper mentioned on ABC local radio, it was monitoring traffic flows.
Probably the same chopper.

Also has time for traffic spotting, what a waste of money
Re: Surf Lifesaver Helicopter
I think you'll find that at those times of the year when the patrols aren't happening (i.e, the non-summer months) the helicopter goes back into the operator's fleet, available for charter like all their other aircraft.
