Defence Media Email wrote: Temporary changes to flight patterns around Perth
Airservices Australia and the Royal Australian Air Force are working together to minimise the impact of essential military training exercises to the north of Perth on 13, 14 and 15 April 2010.
The RAAF will conduct F-111 operations in an area to the north-west of Perth between 9.00pm and midnight (WST) on these nights.
Residents in the area may experience additional aircraft noise from F-111 aircraft at infrequent times during this period.
The training is also occurring in an area which may be used by civilian aircraft on approach to Perth Airport, when prevailing winds require arrivals from a northerly direction.
Some aircraft may be diverted from their normal arrival path to the north-west of the airport to a more northerly, north eastern approach path in order to maintain safe separation.
As a result, residents living in suburbs to the north of Perth Airport under existing flight paths may experience heavier than usual arriving civilian aircraft traffic, including jet aircraft, during these times.
Airservices and RAAF air traffic controllers will work together to minimise the impact on residents of these changes to airspace usage and flight patterns during the exercises.
Both organisations apologise for any disruptions or inconvenience that these changes to normal aircraft operations may cause.
No military flying is planned over the metropolitan area as part of the exercises

Re: RAAF Noteworthy Movements
Thanks for posting Steve, always is interested. I believe that what you heard is 2FTS, which are PC-9 aircraft.Steve wrote:I was going by the use of 136.2 - the only users of that frequency I've heard in 20+ years of milair scanning is the Roulettes.
126.2 is commonly used by RAAF over here.
As I always say on this forum, I'm happy to stand corrected.
Unless the Roulettes drivers have flown over from the east coast to use 2FTS PC-9 aircraft I am not to sure.
I've closed the door!

Re: RAAF Noteworthy Movements
2FTS (or Roulettes or whoever) were over Swanbourne/Cott/City Beach for about an hour this morning around 10.30AM
Took some pics and video but it was hard to see the view finder due to the sun behind me. I'll see how they came out after dinner [-o<

Re: RAAF Noteworthy Movements
Went for a relaxing drive to Jandakot after work this arvo - and noticed at least 4 RAAF 2FTs Roulettes. Parked up, cockpits covered - about 2 hangers up from where the Red Bull Aircraft are all being tweaked... which is the hanger of the Chinese Fighter Planes Nagchangs. (Hanger 6?? Combat Fighters on the advertising plaque)

Re: RAAF Noteworthy Movements
They've been using 136.2 as their air-to-air frequency.
