Oh of course - why didn't I think of that?meg wrote:It was all fine - I just turned the exam paper upside down tooZebedee wrote:Turn it the other way upmeg wrote:Thanks all - tonight is the night! I'm sitting staring at my text book and wondering what any of it means
Congratulations to our three WARSUG members on passing their exams tonight - Meg, Slipknot and Nafenn. Two upgrades and one new licencee to add to the list!
Now the finger drumming begins, waiting for the callsign to appear on the ACMA database, hehe.
And VK6NDT - this course has seen both extremes, an evaporative air cooler running full tilt in the first few weeks as we sweltered through the summer, and a heater on maximum in the last few weeks once we got into winter

Re: Standard Licence
The 2010 Ham College Standard course begins on Tuesday the 9th February at Lynwood Scout Hall and runs until June.
There are still a few places left for any Foundation licencees, or other people interested in obtaining their Standard licence.
Please contact Ham College via the website to register, or feel free to post in here or PM myself if you want any more information.

Re: Standard Licence
How long does it take for an upgraded licence (F-callto Standard) take (paperwork) ?
I am yet to call the wia - just let it take its course - but wonder if there are any delays in the process ???
A few weeks ago now i passed the exam and still nothing on the net - nor in the mail - just paper pushing i guess....
I dont recall it taking this long for the lonely old F-call ??
Just a general question

Re: Standard Licence
How many weeks ago? I recall I had to wait about 6 weeks, but that was because someone at the WIA was on leave. If it's been 4 weeks or more, definitely give them a call.orangepeel wrote:How long does it take for an upgraded licence (F-callto Standard) take ?

Re: Standard Licence
It really does vary quite significantly. Every exam pack has to go to the WIA to be processed first. If there were a lot of exams run around the country on a particular weekend, then it takes longer to go through them one by one. And of course, it always takes a day longer for the post to get from WA ... even when we use an express post envelope (which we do). So WA's paperwork is always at the bottom of the pileorangepeel wrote:How long does it take for an upgraded licence (F-callto Standard) take (paperwork) ?
As a very very rough guideline, it takes between two to three weeks for it to get through the WIA and another two to three weeks to get through the ACMA.
If you chose your own callsign, then take a look at the WIA's callsign page and see if your nominated callsign has disappeared from the "available" ones. If it has, that means you (or someone else) has had their callsign paperwork processed. That gives you a clue how far along the chain your paperwork has gotten

Re: Standard Licence
When I did the advanced exam, I waited 5 or 6 weeks before I finally rang WIA and asked what was going on. They said there was a problem because I hadn't done the prac exam. But they weren't going to contact me and tell me that They have always been helpful on the phone.

Re: Standard Licence
Just received the paperwork from the WIA - however nothing on the ACMA website nor in the mail from them as yet ??!!??
God knows how long ACMA will take in processing the paperwork on their end.
The WIA claim that the paperwork was sent thru to the ACMA on the 3rd .... so - who knows ...
