cnosidering the inside would be stripped completley, minimum fuel... and 2 crew - the runway is 1.6km long... can be doneorangepeel wrote:I highly doubt a -200 would even attempt YPJT - with that lenght - "doable" but would be a "positive" landing and quite a squeeze getting it out if they ever wanted too.
Prob have to get a dispo on the PCN as well i would think (without looking up the data)
My money is on it never going there

I just wish they'd hurry up and get on with it so we can watchNafenn wrote:the inside would be stripped completley, minimum fuel... and 2 crew - the runway is 1.6km long... can be done
And the word is, that it's not leaving again once it's arrived, so they only need to worry about landing length, not takeoff length...orangepeel wrote:and quite a squeeze getting it out if they ever wanted too.

It has been approved, and it can be done with minimum fuel, skelton crew and more than possibly most compontents missing like seats to bring the weight down, minimum fuel.orangepeel wrote:I highly doubt a -200 would even attempt YPJT - with that lenght - "doable" but would be a "positive" landing and quite a squeeze getting it out if they ever wanted too.

It hasn't been approved by the FAA yet, only CASA.

Landing Distances are normally shorter than that of a take off distanceZebedee wrote:

Exactly my point. I was responding to a post from orangepeel regarding the runway being "quite a squeeze getting it out" - pointing out that since it's not intending on leaving again, the getting in part is more relevantAO11912 wrote:Landing Distances are normally shorter than that of a take off distanceZebedee wrote:

Oh I am all for it Nafeen!Nafenn wrote:The eternal optimistwritten_ficton wrote:IF and WHEN it arrives?
But when I was working with the SwanTafe over the aircraft purchase we had alot more 'smaller' aircraft presented to them which would have worked well, and delivered, but they went for a B732.
The 732 is also a fantasic aircraft and I guess best suited to them.

Re: a 737 Landing in Jandakot???
It didn't go for a fly. 16th-18th Dec, in the morning around 7am.
Re: a 737 Landing in Jandakot???
From the Aviation news group
For those interested -
N-737HV is scheduled for delivery to Jandakot at 0615 tomorrow. (16th December)
If it happens, this will bring to an end a rather protracted delivery
where 4 previous attempts have been halted at the last moment by the
regulator.
It will be used primarily as an engineering instructional airframe by
Aviation Studies students at Polytechnic West (we were SwanTAFE when
we purchased it and have now changed our name).
Sorry about the short notice.
And beware - the ferry flight has been cancelled at the last minute 4
times before - there is a risk that it won't go ahead, though
personally, I think fifth time will be the charm.
