Post by vk6hgr »

Hi Folks.

To enable quick access to this sub-forum for people using mobile phones it has its own address -

http://fb.warsug.info

The RSS feed for those that want it is at:

https://warsug.info/app.php/feed/forum/34

Signatures and pictures are disabled in this sub-forum so it loads as fast as possible.

Hmmm.....

When I put
http://warsug.info/rss.php?fid=34
into the RSS client on my Nokia, I get the entire FESA feed, not just the Major fires and incidents.

Is this by design, or a fault in my client?

It's a fault at my end. This version of phpbb has a new RSS plugin which works differently than the old one.

I've restored the old one which works as it should.

Now the RSS client only shows 2 posts - 1: my first post to this thread,
and the other in Significant bush/ scrub, dated the 24/11. :-( - no matter how many times I refresh.
The feed for the entire site seems to work as I would expect.

Anything that you can do, appart from telling me that I am too Geeky:-)?

Posted from my N97 RSS client.

The phpBB RSS plugins suck... it wont remember what posts you have read etc, as you can't log into the board from most RSS clients.. I gave up on it on my Android phone.

Does anyone know what type of authentication it requires? It obviously works because if I browse straight from the warsug pages to the RSS link, Firefox shows ALL the threads I have access to. If I access it via a small program I wrote in Visual Basic, I get the same as you got above. (ie it thinks I'm a visitor) My experience with HTTP is fairly basic.

I use RSS just to keep up on the new topics and posts - I don't use RSS to browse or post, so I need a bit of help with this one.

Which RSS URLs are we using?

The old one at:

http://warsug.info/rss.php?fid=34

Or the new one at:

http://warsug.info/feed.php?f=34

With the new forum software version the feed URL has changed. It's now:

app.php/feed/forum/34
