What was your camera settings? Would shutter speed/exposure have caused that? I've never seen it before.

Looks like you got really lucky there however it happenned. They are great photos.

Where are the fire vehicles, looks like the boys wanted some practice to do a mop up.

The bending of the blades tends to happen on lo-res cameras - phone, old school digicams etc. I'm sure wikipedia or something would have some more detail, but have noticed it in alot of lo-res shots. With a higher res camera you'll either get the blades frozen in the air, or with motion blue, depending on your shutter speed. The trick is to get a bit of blur, so it looks like the chopper is flying, rather than hanging in mid-air.

Thanks for sharing.

there werent too many appliances there. only 2nd alarm i think. had 3 or 4 tankers on the road and only about 5 or 6 attacking trucks. few LT and 3.4, 4.4s. the helitacs stuck around a bit to help with mop up hitting the hot spots on the edges of the fire. we had the task of following a loader around. So with just driving around and helitacs flying above we thought why not :D
