Why are the wheels so small on the trial vehicle?

Wouldn't be much good on anything but road surface?

It's a light truck. That's what comes on them.

They are wider than a normal light truck tyre. They work quite well

The 1.4 is such a nice truck to go out on.

It's a nice ride on the road, It's not a pain in the arse to keep climbing in and out of like a 3.4 / 4.4 and the extra 500L of water is always handy. :)

Only reason you havent seen any red V8 light tankers was that last years build program was still being run through (with all the 6 cyl cab chassis already being purchased).

Yes, Hands down!
I'd rather a fleet of 1.4's then LT's!

Big problem in vollie land here though.. you cant drive a 1.4 on a Car Licence.. A Landcruiser will still go places a 1.4 cant.. (compare the size!)

I am a fan of Light Tankers, and think they could be better utilised in other states.

However, in NSW and Vic, even SA, there is a much higher ratio of trucks to car size vehicles, and I don't see a big problem with that. It really isn't that hard to get a truck license.

My opinion, if you can't get a truck license, you shouldn't be driving an emergency vehicle.
