I also believe the qualifications should change to the following

To achieve the title of Paramedic one must do 3-4 years of education / clinical experience / practice . The studies should also ensure that all skills are practiced either in ED & on road.

Titles should go as follows

Grade 0 Ambulance Officer
Grade I Ambulance Officer
Grade II Ambulance Officer
Grade III Paramedic
Grade IIII Critical Care Paramedic

One should have to be part of a paid service to achieve the qualification. They also should be paid whilst training. Government pays salary!!

This will also mean Protocols & Standards to be exactly the same across state. The Government should write the clinical guidelines

As far as clinical placement. All Ambulance Services must equally participate.

This will ensure High Standards are Met.

Kyle agree with some of what you wrote. I think that the government should not be writing qualification standards. Every state is somewhat different to another.

In America, some volunteers receive the same training as paid officers.
This means that when a Paid officer leaves, A volunteer may be promoted into a full time paid position.

To me this is the ultimate. This would cost SJA 000's of dollars and would this way, they would be more selective of who was employed as a Vollie.

It would also give hope to Volunteers that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Clozapine - atypical antipsychotics
Zyprexa - Bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
ETOH - ethanol
THC well we all know what that is

That would be nice as a large percentage of volunteers would like to become a Para. That way Volunteers could just step straight into the Job.
