These new hydraulic lifting stretchers wont decrease the amount of back injuries in the service. Most back injuries I've encountered have been to do with poor R.O.M due to lack of room, staff depending on the equipment or the lack of communication between staff. Great Idea!

I just dont think it will do what it was mainly designed for, and that is to lower workplace injury. It will also lead to a deterioration of core body strength and over a longer period of time, may increase the amount of back injuries

kyle in the UK most off the ambulances now have auto lift as well and as we all know a "bad back" will end your career quick smart and then SJA will wash your hands off you.

Only problem with an auto lift in the event it "failed" what back up system would you have and could it be over ridden manualy

That would be interesting to know.. however I reckon the cost of a transfer or call out would be double or triple the cost.

I think they would have a fail safe brake so that if it dropped greater than 10cm, breaks lock on

Be my best guesstimate

True best practices, and asking for help makes all the difference in the end..

I once was told of an accident that occurred when a patient fell off a bed. The Paramedic went to catch them in mid flight and caused themselves a spinal trauma. They ended up having to retire due to ongoing back issues.
