Sorry dont usually get into the politics but what a stupid comment to make, especially noting that they confirmed that neither the sprinklers or alarm system was working, and they estimate that 25% of the building involved prior to the first call of fire. I think they did a great job to stop it spreading to other buildings.

I would assume that max is not a member of a service.

No politics at all. I am just amazed at the number of fires that are totally lost here.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the lack of staff, vehicles and having the slowest fire service in Australia.

Just one of the normal top blokes that come in, criticise everything and leave.

Wouldn't it be reasonable to say that the ability of getting people, trucks and equipment as fast as possible to any fire would reduce the severity and damage?

FACT - Perth has the slowest metropolitan fire brigade in Australia.

It's no way criticising the people on the trucks at all. In the end they can only do what they can with the tools and resources available to them.

Oh lets not get into a debate on how quickly the trucks can go in Perth traffic, people giving way to ambulances was discussed in another topic somewhere, we all know that most of the Perth population doesn't know how to react when big red or white truck behind them has red and blue lights flashing and siren wailing, nor when a white van with green check with red and blue lights flashing and siren wailing...it seems it's only the police that can get people to pull over these days. This is also not going on how far away all the stations are, but lets leave it there, every fire that causes damage to persons or property, is a tragedy, and it would be great if they could be significantly reduced, but we have firebugs, old wiring, water, heat and spontaneous combustion, so until we can sort all those out plus more, we're going to keep having them!

If you have a rant... take it elsewhere... there is a thread specifically for that.

Also, become part of the solution... don't just sit here and criticise.

Off-Topic
Off topic stuff that just doesn't fit anywhere else. This is the place for jokes and rants :-)

If you don't like the way FESA is managed or run, we can't help you here. Take it up with them or your local MP. Better still, become a firie! Ranting and raving here will just get the FRS, VFRS and BFS members here all angry and upset.

Well how have things improved then, now you have mentioned it? I'd be interested in reading your opinion....

ON a different subject was driving to bunbury and got about 2klms before australind was alot of smoke going over the road- as it cleared was a pretty big grass fire all blacked with some small looked like spot fires burning on someones property but not one fire truck to be seen, then heading back at 4:30pm still burning just a larger area was quite bizarre.

MAX: just interested where you have the stats that we have the slowest fire service....compared to where ? I can say gees we have the slowest ambulance service or slowest police service turning out to calls BUT if they are falling withing the required time frame per head of population there IS no problem.

well how about citing some of your references for you statements.

"FACT - Perth has the slowest metropolitan fire brigade in Australia."

"Wouldn't have anything to do with the lack of staff, vehicles and having the slowest fire service in Australia."

http://www.fesa.wa.gov.au/internet/uplo ... s/kpi1.pdf

See Page 5. Not bad response times considering the 2,645,615 km² area of coverage.
