Just politely mentioning that the quality of the DFES stream seems to have dropped in the past few days. Is there an issue ?

Yes, sounds awful. The antenna may have been damaged in the high winds that we had lately. Will fix tonight.

The other 6AR/SES stream uses channel 57 and sounds ok.

Thanks to my local BCF store, a new VHF marine band antenna (close enough) has been acquired for the stream and it sounds much better now.

I've removed the ESA and ESB channels from the UHF side of the DFES stream for now as someone is still transmitting data bursts which is annoying to listen to.

DFES stream is now in summer mode. 6AR network control channel is now not sent on the left-hand side audio.

Sorry for the confusion, so what is on left and what is on right over summer?

On the left channel: Fireground channels and simplex (mid and high-band)
On the right channel: SES UHF, FRS UHF (channel 1 and 2), ESA 171 (Rescue 65, mostly) and a bit of country police.

OK,

So I've been playing with my SDR, and I can now stream multiple frequencies :-)

Currently Northam and I get some coverage of Toodyay. Is there any point in me streaming 6IP?

I would only consider doing this if 6IP and 6AR ever get split. I recall some discussion on why 6IP and 6AR, and thought someone said they get split at times.

Can someone please advise?
Colin.

While I'm not 100% I don't think they would split very often if at all. For an incident once all the attending appliances turn out and arrive they will be on a local command channel away from 6AR/6IP anyway.

I'm interested in how easy it was to stream multiple frequencies although I'm guessing a) not easy and b) not on Windows?

I haven't heard 6IP/6AR split since WAERN has come in.

Not for this thread but would be very interested in how you've set this up, Colin.

From a briefing I went to a few weeks ago there's a pretty good chance that on days where the network is under a lot of stress or load, they'll consider splitting 6AR and 6IP. We've been warned that it's happening and given maps to show which repeaters are designated as 6AR and which are designated 6IP.

This summer one of the things my brigade is focusing on is remembering the "correct" callsign for the channel we're trying to talk to Comcen on.

Its been so long since they've done it that it'll just cause more confusion, IMHO.

Say that they do split, what are the thoughts on the stream audio? Keep just 6AR, scan with 6IP, switch depending on the event..?
