Kalgoorlie
Good afternoon.
Listening to the Kalgoorlie stream over the last few days, I have noticed that the non-Kalgoorlie Base side (i.e. the "car" side) of transmissions appears to have been lost, both for the local Kalgoorlie area as well as for the outlying areas (Kambalda, Coolgardie).
Does anyone know if there has been a fundamental change in operations in local radio protocol / infrastructure in the area, which has this situation, or is there some other anomaly happening ?
Regards

Re: Kalgoorlie
I know the police were installing digital equipment over the last couple of months, so it is entirely possible that they are digital now.

Thanks, but it doesn't sound digital.

Re: Kalgoorlie
when they rolled out the digital system in Perth for some time they ran both systems while everyone was cut over. so the base/vki was transmitting on both systems at the same time but if the vehicle was digital ready then the car would only respond back on the digital system. exactly what you're hearing here no doubt.

Re: Kalgoorlie
Suspect that the digital conversion in the Kalgoorlie area occurred last weekend, or early in the week just gone.

Re: Kalgoorlie
Is there a way to legally listen to this?
If so, is anyone know of a stream?

Re: Kalgoorlie
Will depend on the type of system in use, and whether encrypted.
In NSW, some of the country areas have gone digital, but not yet encrypted (as opposed to the Metrop areas), and, since the NSW Poliice have simply done a conversion of the standard 468 Mhz band, with the applicable scanner, can be heard.

Re: Kalgoorlie
I'm new to Kalgoorlie and to scanners,
If we've lost Kal Cops to digital - do we know if the ambos / firies / RFDS are still analog?
if so does anybody happen to know what frequencies they live on?
I'm not having much luck finding them on my own.

Re: Kalgoorlie
There are still the taxi ranks up the middle of the main street. It is still very wide, but there is angle parking parking on both sides of the road. That still leaves enough room for 2 x lanes going each way.
It is pretty good here still Seems to be alot more violence and crime committed, especially lately.

Re: Kalgoorlie
violence and crime committed we seems to get that much more these days but compared to some of the news from Sydney we live in paradise
a lot of the crime is created by the need of a small part of the community needing money to feed a expensive drug habit sadly many governments have not worked out a way we can stop that cycle when they do we will see a huge drop crime robbery car thefts ect
